About the Author
My name is Maggie Beatka and I'm a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BS in genetics.
At the beginning of the semester our professor, Ahna Skop, presented us with the opportunity to have our DNA sequenced by a personal genetic testing center, 23andMe. These results would've allowed us to pursue studying an interesting disease or trait that we found in our own genome. Thankfully (but uneventfully) my genome analysis did not reveal anything that significant. Considering this, I had no significant inspiration for studying Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome except for hearing my mother (whose a cardiac nurse) bring it up in conversation before. My interests outside of school include painting, sand volleyball, spending time with friends, my black labrador Tess, and of course cheese. |
